Good spyware removal program?
Dani* asked:
My computer has been infected with spyware (again. ugh) and I still have the Malwarebytes installed from where i removed this the first time.
but now, the malwarebytes can’t find any infected files. When I used a more advanced scanner, it found a LOT. Which is probably why it keep coming back. But anyways…I need a good spyware removal program that’s free.

First download the following (if the virus is blocking your internet, you may have to download these on another machine and burn to CD or copy to a USB memory stick)
Superantispyware:
CCleaner (cleans out caches)
Avast! 4 Home:
Now, start the machine in Safe Mode (hit the F8 function key as the machine boots up, and choose Safe mode)
Turn off System Restore on your machine, but only until you get this fixed - many of these trojans get copied into the System Restore files, which anti-virus programs aren’t allowed to touch and the viruse could reinstall themselves from there. My Computer > Properties > System Restore.
run Superantispyware and clean everything it says
Then run Avast - If a virus infection is persistent, use Avast to do a boot-scan - click on “schedule boot-scan” and restart the computer
Then run CCleaner
Then turn System Restore back on.
Now install the antivirus program and antispyware program of your choice to do continuous scanning, and make sure you keep it up to date.
Always keep your Windows, web browser and Java software up to date - frequent patches are released to plug security holes.

Adaware 2008 does a nice job and it’s free ,just click the 5th link on the left side of the page to down-load the program.
Select run to install and after the instalation is compleate click on update and that way you will be up to date for any and all spyware.
Good luck

I would use spybot search and destroy, it’s free and very good.
Adaware is also quite good to download as well, but I’ve found it sometimes missed stuff that spybot catches.

Malwarebytes is one of the best antimalware programs available.
Before you go jumping to conclusions, you should tell us what the “more advanced scanner” is, and why it doesn’t remove what it finds.
If you are by chance talking about Xoftspy, SpyNoMore, AdwareAlert, or any of a number of other programs that scan for free and then find a gazillion infections, they and their findings are 99.999% Bullsh….
Besides Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, I also recommend Superantispyware:
> Superantispyware:
Also, contrary to the advice given above, do not turn off your system restore unless you are reasonably sure that the infection is in your restore files.
People who advise others to do so without knowing that the infection is in the restore files are giving potentially dangerous advice… sometimes an infected restore point is better than *none at all* …
