Try Windows Defender from. It’s free, and unlike previous suggestions, gives you “live” protection, which means it stops spyware/adware before it infects your PC.
My favorite antispyware software is SpySweeper, from. It’s US$30, but it’s the best at detecting and “live” stopping most threats. It’s really worth its price.
SpySweeper and McAfee Antispyware are considered by IT pros as the best tools for spyware removal.

Ad Aware is the best you’ll find. It’s free, and you can get updates for free as well. Also, if you use Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer, you won’t get as much spyware on your computer.

Lavasofts personal adware SE as per above, microsofts antispyware beta ( Which I think they are starting to call something different but cant remember what they are going to call it now )
This page lists some other pieces of software with regards to anti virus and anti spyware :
Also ( which is more commonly known as clam av that has been ported to windows by the open source community is a good anti virus to have, Also avast is pretty good but in my opinion took up more resources then I liked, maybe that was just me.
ewido and spy sweeper are also 2 other good anti spyware pieces of software
and ( MIght be worth while going to download.com and searching for anti virus and anti spyware on there as they have a lot of downloads as well.
There are a few other open source anti virus apps as well so they might be worth while checking out.

there are a couple out there that are good -
some of the following that I have are:
NoAdware (this one costs $$$)
Ad-Aware SE (free)
Spybot Search & Destroy (free)
there are others out there - just got to search for them
here’s where you can go to download Ad-Aware SE:

just try “spy sweeper” from webroot
very effecient but you need to subscribe to get full features to remove the spy or adwares
if not subcribe, it can only detect what spy or adwares are currently running on your computer

Try downloading these items to a CD instead of a flash drive:
Ad-Aware SE (unless it is a business with more than 10 computers)
Spybot Search & Destroy
Microsoft Windows Defender
WinPatrol
AV–AVG(unless it is a business with more than 10 computers)
Firewall — Sygate or Zone Alarm(unless it is a business with more than 10 computers)
Businesses with more than 10 computers need to buy specially licensed products.

Hey! Never underestimate programs of good reputation, such as Ad-aware and Spybot S&D. None of them, or ANY other program are ‘complete’ on their own, but they surely ‘continue the job where they other has left off’ - In other words they all ‘complete’ each other.
If you really want to be a ‘pro’ like you say, considering carrying with you most of the known ones! Bellow, I’ll give some ‘must’ programs, both free & pay (you decide what to include what not to):
>> SPYWARE / ADWARE / ETC.
(Freeware:)
- Spybot S&D
- Winpooch
- Windows Defender (Beta 2)
- Hijack This (NOT for removal - for detection)
(Payware:)
- Ad-Aware SE Enterprise Edition 2005
- Spyware Doctor Enterprise 2.0
- SpySweeper Enterprise
- CounterSpy Enterprise
>> ANTIVIRUS / ANTITROJAN / ETC.
(Freeware:)
- McAfee AVERT Stinger (addition to other antivirus)
- avast! Virus Cleaner (addition to other antivirus)
- Clamwin
(Payware:)
- NOD32 Antivirus System
- Kaspersky Anti-Virus Business Optimal
- Trend Micro Enterprise Protection Strategy
- Panda EnterpriSecure
or even
- Panda WebAdmin Antivirus (remotely install, configure and monitor the protection of an entire organization)
>>>> NOTE: Since you have “a repair business and you’re looking for the best”, bare in mind, that common viruses might be disinfected from a system with one of the above-mentioned software. But in many cases, for some viruses the only 100% realiable method of disinfection is restoring the system from backups. Therefore, if you are going to start protecting your clients PC while it’s in ‘fresh condition’ (newly formated, etc.), ALWAYS make sure they have a backup!…
PS. While at it, download a couple of Rootkit scanners to keep up with the latest dangers ‘in fashion!’
…Good Luck!
