The best free ones are Superantispyware and A-squared free 3.1. Spyware Terminator is not bad either.

Try them all and then keep the 2 you like the best.

Anti Spyware would be some programs like ad-aware 2007, its sole purpose is just to look for any harmfull keyloggers, or adware which can give you pop ups and slow you down. Avira’s sole purpose is to only look for suspicous programs that could be a virus and to remove them. So get Ad-Aware its completely free

The Antivirus Software is great, but just for viruses, worms, backdoors, trojans…and so on…
Anti-spyware is also great for scanning registry, and software for malicious or damaging codes.

Only have one antivirus program and one firewall installed on your computer. Anti-adware/malware/spyware are ok to have more off.

    Comodo Firewall:

yes.spy ware is people watching what your doing on your computer and they are able to get any personal information you put into your computer like passwords, credit card information etc. Virus’ can actually destroy your computer.you can get that from downloads, opening an infected piece of e-mail.Even just opening sites on your computer.Their two different things so you need something for each to protect your computer.Try Avast.Their free and it is anti-virus,anti-spy ware and a pop-up blocker. You can download it on your computer. And it updates daily.

    Two different usages.

I also do the following to best practices to enhance protection on my PC.

These are best practices to protecting your computer/laptop:

    - Perform monthly updates of Microsoft patches
    - Perform daily updates of your Anti-Virus/Firewall program(s)
    - Perform daily updates to your Anti-Spyware and Adware program(s)
    - Perform a weekly scan of your hard-disk for viruses/spyware

Best of all know your computer. When you are connecting on a wireless network
    - You see your hard-drive flashing solid green and you are not doing anything. Your computer/laptop may be infected.

Have two separate logins on your computer. One with admin rights and another with regular rights. Always use the login with the regular rights. If someone hacks in during your session. The hacker is limited to the account with regular rights and can’t do much.

Always have a backup of your computer/laptop for restore purposes.

At the end it is up to you. Never visit sites that you don’t recognized and don’t trust your Emails. Always take it with a grain of salt.

Now that the fanboy-fest is over, with everyone touting their favorite programs, it’s time for some useful information.

So the answer to your question is….it depends!

It depends on just what version of Avria that you are using.

    1. The free version of Avria anti-virus does NOT include an anti-spyware component.

    2. The paid (premium) version of Avria anti-virus DOES include an anti-spyware component.

    3. The Avria Security Suite (paid) DOES include an anti-spyware component.

    more info here:

If you are in need of an anti-spyware program, I would strongly suggest the free version of:
    SUPERAntiSpyware:

In any event, an occasional scan with SAS Free would be ideal as no single anti-malware product is anywhere near perfect. None can catch’em all! Since SAS is an on-demand scanner only, it can’t bog down your everyday computing. It’s good stuff.
