My computer got spyware/adware and my computer is running very slow? What should I do?

My computer just started getting a ton of ads and then it started running very slow… I have McAfee and the Spyware protection was turned off and I don’t know how, but it was. McAfee also removed several trojans and it said it couldn’t remove some… Please what should I do? I am using my Nintendo Wii to get on the internet since my computer is going so slow. Help would be very appreciated.

My laptop did the same thing. All i did was restore to a prevous date. fixed my problem right up. always make a restore date on a weekly or bi-weekly basis in case it happens again. it hasnt to me but you never know. Good Luck

Get the free Windows defender program from microsoft. It will fix you right up.

spybot 1.5 and adaware se. they will work off line and in safe mode, where you should do your scaning.

Do not panic, follow these steps.
1. Download a trial of kaspersky antivirus
2.Install it after you uninstall mcafee
3.If possible update the definitions
4.Perform a complete scan.
5. It will find several viruses ,quarantine them all.
6. Restart your system.
7.If all seems well i.e no more ads then it means your computer is safe.
8.Perform a scan again to make sure no viruses are left behind.
After you are sure that there are no more viruses download advanced windows care it will clear out junk files,coreects and errorsin registry and it will speed up your system.

AVG is an excellent Av program and its free. Also a combination of Spybot and Adaware usually helps flush out all malware. Besides this you should also run a diskcleanup. How long has it been since you checked your fragmentation? Thats yet another speed retarding disease.
