Honestly, I’d splurge and buy a really good program for $30 instead of depending on free programs. They don’t really compare with programs like Spysweeper $29 (Or with AV $49) or Kaspersky AV and AS $59.

I use Avast Professional Edition. You generally don’t need more than one program, as it just uses more system resources.

I really love Trend-Micro Antivirus because it doesn’t take a lot of space on your computer and gets the little details that some other antivirus programs may overlook. Also, it doesn’t lag your computer so you can simultaneously surf and run a scan.
I’ve used different kinds of Norton Antivirus and they all take up not only a lot of space, it also really lags on your computer and doesn’t catch the minor details. I always have some kind of issue where it stops working after six months and occasionally have to call for tech support…and I tell you, they’re not always that helpful.

Norton Antivirus software. This is the Global renounced best type of software to protect the home computers. Also, AdAware SE Personal is a awesome software that removes ad viruses for free. Ger the Norton Corporate Edition if you can find it because this is the only software that when you buy it, you wont need to subscribe to anything. I have had this software on my computer for 3 straight years and I had never got into a problem. I got rid of all of my viruses as many as 8 times on my computer and didn’t have to put a fresh disc back on my computer at all…

Install ESET NOD32 Antivirus, one enough, no need install too many security programs, may cause system instability and degraded performance
ESET NOD32 Antivirus is your best defense against viruses, trojans and other forms of malware-and the top choice for IT professionals. Powered by the ThreatSense® engine with advanced heuristics, which blocks far more unknown threats than the competition.
Not like norton or other brand, NOD32 run very fast and require less system resources, so it means will not slow down your computer and you still can do other things at the same time. When I run a system scanning I also can use photoshop to create pics….:)
