Well since your roommate used limewire there is a good chance you got infected. Get Avira the free version from download.com Also get Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Install and update both programs. Then restart your computer is safe mode and do a scan with Malwarebytes. Then restart your computer, and do a full scan with avira. Then use Avira as your anti-virus program, it will protect you from all malware. Keep Malwarebytes and run a scan with it once a week.

Tell your room mate that she/he is an idiot. Never download from P2P website without running a anti-virus. As Limewire is full of spyware, not sure about virus’.
If you are going to download from a P2P site, I’d suggest using ‘Avast’ anti-virus program as it scans most P2P sites. When you download a song or movie it is scanning it while you are downloading it.

There are several anti-spyware programs out there so I’ll suggest 2.
There is ‘Windows Defender’ which is not to bad. I wouldn’t say it’s the best, but it’s better than nothing.

Or there is ‘Spybot-Search & Destroy’ which is pretty good.

It might pay to do this little thing before doing any scans. Do a search on your computer for ‘Limewire’ as some programs leave little files behind. Delete anthing that comes up with ‘Limewire’ in it.
