My MS Anti-Spyware 2009 program [that I haven't even provoked] keeps popping up all the time. I click ‘exit’ but it just keeps re-opening.

I click ‘activate subscription’ and it just re-directs me to buy the full package, which I don’t want.

I just want the program to go away, but don’t know how?

Mac Anti-spyware

Macintosh Spyware Attacks, Prevention & Removal Methods

Anti-spyware applications used to be ignored by Mac users. Aside from the fact that Mac is a highly secured OS compared to PC, the number of Mac users are not frequently the target of different attacks. The necessity of anti-spyware for Mac used to be debated since the addition of an anti-spyware is not that important as no one is really targeting Mac users.  But those days are long gone.

Scenarios of Attack for Mac

Since the traditional spyware will not work for Mac, hackers have found another point of attack: phishing. This type of attack comes in the form of random emails or websites wherein they will ask personal information and eventually use them against the user. They could also use the information for unlawful means. The user will end up as a victim of identity theft.

The second scenario is through unknown downloads. Although Mac settings will require you to enter a password before you install any application, a shared computer will always be susceptible to different spyware. When everyone in your house can access your computer, you will never know the application they are downloading. Even the applications and plug-ins you are downloading might be infected with Mac spyware.

They might come in a form of friendly codec for your music player or a plug-in for your browser. As soon as the password is entered which allows the application to run, attacks could come in many forms – often unknown. Without you knowing it, Trojan could be installed wherein it could records keystrokes and capture screen activities. The mac spyware remover could delete the spyware but the damage might have been done as your actions could have been recorded and your personal information extracted.

Selecting the Right Anti-Spyware for Mac

There are two actions that you should be looking for in a mac anti spyware: prevention and detection. Macintosh spyware removal could be a good thing for your Mac but that only answers half the problem. Your software should also prevent any types of downloads with potential spyware or alert you about the spyware and would give you the option of allowing the spyware to run in your system or not.

Prevention is better than Cure

Mac anti-spyware may do its job in keeping you from different spyware. But remember that personal caution considerably helps in preventing different types of spyware. As the anti-spyware evolves, the developers of spyware are also working double time to defeat the latest versions of anti-spyware. If there’s anything suspicious regarding the application, website or email, better disregard them immediately. There are other secured sources you can consider. You just have to research a little bit more so that you’ll have a secured application for your Mac.

“warning Spyware Detected on Your Computer” and How to Fix it

Jim Marshall asked:

The first thing to do is STOP what your doing. You need to be very careful when dealing with this problem. If you are getting a popup that says “Warning spyware detected on your computer” and then provides a link to spyware program DO NOT click on it. This is actually a trick used by various spyware, malware, and adware programs to simply infest your computer with MORE spyware.

If the message you are getting gives you more generic advice like “install an anti virus or spyware remover to clean up your computer” it is probably a legitimate threat.

How did you get spyware on your computer? There could be a myriad of reasons.

You recently downloaded shareware, freeware, or some other low cost program. A lot of these programs are “free” for a reason, the developers are paid to place spyware in it to steal information and recoup the cost of creating the software.

You downloaded music or other files through peer to peer or other shared networks.

You visited an untrustworthy website that hijacked your browser. A lot of “free giveaway websites, pornographic, and even song lyric websites are loaded with spyware. Without some sort of protection they can easily infect your computer.

So the question becomes what can I do about it? The first thing I recommend is do NOT try to fix the problem yourself. A lot of these files are deeply embedded and just removing a couple malevolent programs does not mean you are removing the spyware in it’s entirety.

I also do not recommend this action because you might inadvertently delete important registry or system files which could potentially corrupt your operating system. A good spyware detector will give you detailed analysis of what the threats are so you can be certain you aren’t deleting any files you actually need.

To fix the Warning spyware detected on your computer message, you need a great spyware removal tool. I have created a website Spyware Fix , detailing some of the best spyware removers on the net. Come on in and have a look to discover what I consider my #1 choice for killing spyware. With this program I promise you will never see that dreaded “Warning spyware detected on your computer” message ever again.
