I’m pretty positive I just got a virus or spyware. My net goes real slow, I keep getting popups, and somehow it changes my google searches. I see in m task manager a ew weird things runing, like chkntfs.exe, and v6.exe. What is a good FREE spyware removal? Last time I used what was supposed to be a good free one, it deleted a system file so I’m wary. And I can’t search google because this thing won’t let me. Help please!!
I’m pretty sure it was Adaware SE that ruined my PC last time. Can someone recommend programs (free) that they have used before which have worked well?

I had a virus/spyware and ran tons of virus and spyware removers but none worked. I heard that microsoft had good virus/spyware removal software. So I downloaded windows defender and windows malicious software removal. I used them both twice. The malicious software tool said it couldnt find anything. But the windows defender found 4 different trojans. I removed them all and restarted my computer. Everything is running fine now, before everything was very slow now its back to normal and running fast. But there’s one thing, the virus or spyware or whatever when I had it, it made its own desktop background and set it as mine. The background is still on my computer but everything else is fine. Is there still a virus or something on my computer, because I cant understand why the background is still on my desktop. I changed it to my own background so is everything fine now? By the way avg, spybot search and destroy, and all that other junk doesnt work so use microsoft products they work.

I have removed the virus, deleted all the registry entries and .dll files and have used multiple spyware removal softwares, including spydoctor, Rogueremover, etc. I am running windows 2000 Professional. The software has been removed but the icon still stays in the taskbar, and a left or right click on the baloon reinstalls the program. I want to know how to get rid of the taskbar icon.
